How we started...
Clinton Hill Design Build was created by Nick Haven after seeing a niche in Brooklyn for a construction team that could bring high quality construction, competent construction management, i.e. (detailed budgets / cost accounting / submissions / shop drawings) - and prices that are not as prohibitive as those found in Manhattan.
We appeal to both homeowners and architects - 50 percent of our business is from design build with homeowners - the other 50% is with Architect/ Homeowner where CHDB acts as the General Contractor.
Today...
CHDB is successfully operating in Brownstone Brooklyn and Manhattan - they hope their approach to the construction process will benefit both their firm and your project!
Clinton Hill Design Build Sister Companies:
CHDB created Pacific Wood so that they could better control the millwork fabrication that is an intregal part of their project delivery.
CHDB also created Vanderbilt Ironworks because they could not find small ironworking shops that could produce both shop drawings and the type of design elements that they needed to complete their projects.
PRINCIPAL
Nick Haven — Nick Haven worked as a construction executive for Sciame Construction in Manhattan - developing, overseeing and successfully completing many interior renovations and large "out of the ground" new construction projects.
Pars Moghbel — Pars brings Design / Architectural services and NYC department of buildings code consulting to our firm. Pars can sit with you and before you know it your ideas are hand sketched in three dimensions and your on your way to having a set of drawings to build from. Pars is responsible for most of the designs that we showcase here on this web site. Pars is also able to navigate the labyrinth that is the new york city building code as if he were a Byzantine.
Lenny Zella - Lenny is our Operations officer, his job is to make sure that the process works, the wheels are rolling and in general to be a cool hand when things get HOT. In addition Lenny formerly owned and operated a custom cabinetry shop and brings a level of surety / timeliness / and QC to our wood work operations at Pacific Wood.
ASSOCIATES
Tony Nischo - Tony oversees our field operations and visits each site daily to interact with our on-site supervisors or lead carpenters. Tony comes from a long background of solid carpentry framing, in fact he has built more homes from the ground up than he can put a number to. Tony is a bit of a drill sergeant and doesn’t mince words- he gets the job done- correctly.
Jonathan Pettibone - Jonathan works in our design and engineering department with Pars, he has an architectural background with a great eye for detail and is a design force in his own right.
Ken Como - Ken heads up our mill work shop drawing team. Ken and his small team are in charge of the engineering it takes to successfully complete a complex cabinetry project, making sure the little things all line up - the hardware works - the wood patterns match and the dishwasher fits under the counter!
